# All Saints, Sandon

All Saints on Church Lane, Sandon, Staffordshire, is a Grade I parish church of the late twelfth or early thirteenth century, virtually rebuilt about 1300, with a Perpendicular south-west tower, in the Diocese of Lichfield.

## Overview

Historic England records a late twelfth- or early thirteenth-century church, virtually rebuilt about 1300, with a fourteenth-century north aisle and later additions, of stone with a tile roof. The plan has a nave with aisles, chancel and Perpendicular south-west tower, and fine arch-braced roofs. The north aisle was elaborately remodelled in 1851 as a family chapel of the Earls of Harrowby. The church was well restored by W. D. Caröe in 1923 and later. Fittings include a font dated 1669, a Jacobean pulpit with tester, and communion rail and family pews of Jacobean type. Monuments are mainly to the Erdeswick family, including the mural monument to Samson Erdeswick (1603) designed by himself in 1601. Listed Grade I on 24 January 1967 (NHLE 1294163).
