# St Ann, Rhyl

St Ann’s on Vale Road, Rhyl, is an unlisted Church in Wales church of 1893–94 by R. Lloyd Williams of Denbigh, built as a mission church south of the railway and consecrated in 1896, in the Diocese of St Asaph.

## Overview

Rhyl became a separate parish in 1844. Land on Vale Road was bought in 1893. Mrs Ann Nicholson paid for a mission church for the poorer streets south of the line — later nicknamed the Railwayman’s Church. The foundation stone was laid on 25 October 1893; the first service was held on 26 June 1894; consecration as a chapel of ease to Holy Trinity followed on 9 November 1896. A consolidated chapelry was created in 1902; marriages were licensed from 1909. The church was extended in 1931 and renovated in 1962. It does not appear among Cadw’s listed churches in Rhyl (Holy Trinity, St Thomas and St John are listed). It remains a district church in the parish of Rhyl. Grid reference SJ 014810.
