# St Michael, Owermoigne

St Michael’s is a Grade II* Church of England parish church on Church Lane, Owermoigne, Dorset, with an early-fifteenth-century west tower and a nave and chancel of 1883, in the Diocese of Salisbury.

## Overview

The Royal Commission and the listing agree that the three-storey west tower is early fifteenth century, with an embattled parapet, gargoyles, a north vice in a rounded projection, and a two-light west window. The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1883 to designs by S. Jackson of Weymouth. One mid-thirteenth-century and two sixteenth-century windows were reset in the chancel. Fittings include an eighteenth-century circular font, an eighteenth-century benefactors’ board recording a 1653 bequest of Adam Jones of Holworth, and a brass in the chancel to John Sturton (or Burton in some transcripts), 1506. RCHME notes three bells (one fifteenth-century, two by John Wallis, 1594).

Historic England listed the church Grade II* on 26 January 1956 (list entry 1119232). It is in the Watercombe benefice.
