# Our Lady & St Peter, Bothamsall

Our Lady and St Peter is a Grade II parish church on Main Street in Bothamsall, Nottinghamshire, rebuilt in 1845 for the 4th Duke of Newcastle, in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

## Overview

The listing records a fourteenth-century church rebuilt in 1845 by the Duke of Newcastle with stone from demolished Worksop Manor. It is ashlar with tile roofs, embattled parapets, a three-stage west tower with north-east stair turret, nave, north aisle, north vestry and chancel. The tower has crocketed pinnacles, gargoyles and a west window of two cusped lights. A fourteenth-century human-head label stop remains on the south doorway.

Earlier dedications were recorded as St Mary, then St Mary and St Peter or St Peter; the present dedication to Our Lady and St Peter is associated with the transfer of patronage to the Society for the Maintenance of the Faith in 1924. The church stands on high ground above the village street and is now in the parish of The Idle and Sands, Retford. No separate official parish website was found.
