# Holy Trinity, Norton Juxta Twycross

Holy Trinity is a Grade II* parish church on Orton Lane, Norton Juxta Twycross, Leicestershire, in the Diocese of Leicester and the Appleby group of churches.

## Overview

Historic England records an early fourteenth-century church heavily restored about 1841. The listing describes ashlar with plain tile roofs and stone-coped verges: a three-stage west tower, four-bay nave and three-bay chancel with vestry. The tower has angle buttresses, a crenellated parapet, a pointed west entrance with an old nail-studded door, a Y-traceried west window and a seated figure in a crocketed niche. Nave windows are of two lights with Decorated tracery; the east window is of four lights with flowing tracery.

The interior has a high pointed chancel arch of two chamfered orders without capitals and a similar tower arch, the lower part now blocked. Roofs are an arch-braced hammer-beam over the nave and an arch-braced collar over the chancel. The parish notes Georgian pitch-pine box pews and a contemporary three-tier pulpit. The 1841 works were under the patronage of Earl Howe of Gopsall Hall. Domesday records a priest at Nortone, then held of Lady Godiva.
