# North Curry & Curland Methodist Church

North Curry and Curland Methodist Church on Windmill Hill (The Pavement), North Curry, Somerset, is a Grade II Wesleyan chapel of 1833 in the Taunton Deane and South Somerset Methodist Circuit.

## Overview

Historic England lists a Methodist chapel dated 1833 with extensions of about 1900, in red brick Flemish bond under hipped and pyramidal slate roofs (1307697; listed 25 February 1955, amended 21 February 1986). The plan is a rectangular chapel with set-back vestry rooms at the west corner. Full-height round-headed mullioned windows light the chapel. A Ham stone tablet above the entrance is inscribed ‘Wesleyan Chapel 1833’; a marble tablet records erection in memory of Ann Mitchell Morris (d. 1900). Cast-iron railings on a dwarf wall front the graveyard.

Methodist worship in North Curry is recorded from licensed houses in 1791, with a Sunday school from 1819, after visits associated with John Wesley in the late eighteenth century. The Methodist Church has no diocese. The chapel serves North Curry and Curland.
