# St James, North Cray

St James is a Grade II parish church on North Cray Road, North Cray, in the London Borough of Bexley, in the Diocese of Rochester.

## Overview

Historic England records a rebuild by Edwin Nash: an aisled nave of 1850–52, a north-west tower with shingled broach spire of 1857, and a chancel of 1871. The fabric is ragstone with a wooden north porch. Windows have Geometrical tracery; the east window uses alternate wide and narrow lights.

The listing describes a richly furnished interior that keeps monuments from the former church, including one by Chantrey, a pulpit dated 1637, stalls, reliefs, paintings attributed to Gessi, and a cusped arch to the organ chamber. The church stands on the west side of North Cray Road beside Foots Cray Meadows.
