Overview
Cadw records a chapel of 1837 by G. V. Maddox, built by Nicholson and Lord of Walsall, with internal alterations in 1885. The painted stucco front is a three-bay temple composition: a pediment on four Ionic pilasters, a wide porch of paired fluted Ionic columns, pedimented ground-floor sashes and arched first-floor windows in recessed arches. A scrolled panel in the pediment reads “Methodist Chapel 1837”. The roof is Welsh slate.
The interior keeps its original galleries on Ionic columns, a pulpit with ascending steps on each side, and a fine organ of about 1900. In 1885 the floor was raised by two feet, covering the column bases and lowering the apparent height of the pulpit. Cadw lists the building Grade II* for its architectural interest and well-preserved interior.
