# Holy Trinity, Thorpe Hesley

Holy Trinity is a Grade II Commissioners' church on Sough Hall Avenue, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham, in the Diocese of Sheffield.

## Overview

Historic England records a church of 1837 by J. P. Pritchett the elder, with later additions. The fabric is thinly coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The plan is a five-bay nave and chancel in one, a three-stage west tower, an east projection and a later vestry at the northeast. Windows are lancets in the Early English manner. The tower has a pointed west door, a lancet west window flanked by piers rising as pinnacles, louvred belfry openings and a slender octagonal spire.

The interior has a west gallery and roof trusses subdivided into lancet panels. A dedicated Pritchett site states that the church was built between 1837 and 1839 on land belonging to Earl Fitzwilliam, and that the short chancel reflects contemporary liturgical needs. A war memorial west of the church is listed separately at Grade II.
