# Holy Trinity, Rotherhithe

Holy Trinity is a Church of England parish church on Bryan Road (Rotherhithe Street), Rotherhithe, in the Diocese of Southwark: a 1957 rebuilding by Thomas Ford on the site of a Victorian church destroyed in the Blitz.

## Overview

The Diocese of Southwark records that the present church was dedicated in 1957 and is of brick with a copper-clad roof. The plan is orthodox, with a nave and simple aisles, a Lady Chapel and vestibule, and vestry, parish office and kitchen. A mural by Hans Feibusch fills the wall behind the altar. The building occupies the approximate footprint of the former Holy Trinity, a Gothic Revival church consecrated in 1837 (Southwark records the demolished building as 1838, by S. Kempthorne), lost to bombing of the Docklands on 7 September 1940. Wikipedia notes that this was among the first British churches destroyed in the Second World War; the adjacent school buildings, used for worship until the new church was ready, remain as the church hall. The First World War memorial survived and is listed Grade II. The present church itself is not listed.

The parish website advertises monthly Saturday openings with coffee and a craft stall.
