# Holy Trinity, Ilfracombe

Holy Trinity on Church Hill is the Grade I Church of England parish church of Ilfracombe, North Devon, in the Diocese of Exeter.

## Overview

Historic England lists the Parish Church of Holy Trinity (NHLE 1208207, listed 15 June 1951). The listing records a transeptal tower and other masonry of the thirteenth century; enlargement around 1321 by order of Bishop Stapledon, lengthening the nave and adding aisles; fifteenth-century widening of the aisles and a north chancel aisle; restoration by John Hayward in 1861–64; and a vestry of 1894 by Henry Wilson. Walls are mostly random rubble slate, some rendered, with limestone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. Wagon roofs are a particular feature; those over the chancel were substantially renewed by Fellowes Prynne in 1899. A sundial of 1788 sits over the porch. The church has stood on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register in recent years while roof repairs were carried out.
