# Holy Trinity, Boxted

Holy Trinity at Braggon’s Hill, Boxted, Suffolk, is a Grade I fifteenth-century parish church of flint and stone, famous for Poley family monuments, in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

## Overview

Historic England records a small church built of flint and stone, mainly of the fifteenth century. The west tower has rusticated stone quoins and a castellated parapet. The chancel has Jacobean hammer-beam roof trusses; fittings of the same period include an octagonal pulpit with tester, a parclose screen with balusters and achievements, and a three-sided communion rail with twisted balusters. Two sixteenth-century pews stand at the west end of the nave. The north-east chapel holds painted wood effigies and memorials to the Poleys of Boxted Hall, including an alabaster monument of 1725 to Sir John Poley (d.1638) and Dame Abigail. The church was formerly listed as All Saints. Listed Grade I on 23 March 1961, amended 9 February 1978 (NHLE 1351739); listing NGR TL8248450465. The civil parish church is now in the parish of Hartest with Boxted All Saints.
