# Holy Trinity, Abbots Leigh

Holy Trinity is the Grade II* parish church of Abbots Leigh, North Somerset, a fifteenth-century Perpendicular church restored after a fire in 1848, in the Diocese of Bristol.

## Overview

Historic England lists a fifteenth-century Anglican parish church restored and partly rebuilt after a fire in 1847–48. The plan is west tower, nave, north and south aisles, south porch, chancel and vestry, all in Perpendicular style. Walls are coursed rubble with freestone dressings; the nave has a slate roof and the chancel double Roman tiles. The three-stage west tower has diagonal buttresses, an embattled parapet and a polygonal stair turret. The church was listed Grade II* on 11 October 1961 (list entry 1312353).

A fire on 21 February 1848 gutted the church. The tower and chancel were saved; William Miles (later 1st Baron Miles) paid for the rebuilding, adding the vestry and north aisle. Three of the six bells were cast in 1781 by William Bilbie.

The legal parish is Abbots Leigh with Leigh Woods. Abbots Leigh lies in North Somerset, immediately west of Bristol.
