# High Carntyne Parish Church

High Carntyne Church at 358 Carntynehall Road, Glasgow, is a Category B listed Church of Scotland building of 1931–32 by J. Taylor Thomson, now serving the united Carntyne congregation.

## Overview

Historic Environment Scotland describes a simplified Romanesque church in New Cumnock brick with ashlar dressings and slate roofs: nave with a low south aisle fronting Carntynehall Road, transepts and chancel, and a principal west gable with shallow projecting outer doors and a three-light gallery window in a round-arched panel. A leaded east window lights the chancel. Halls adjoining to the east were built in 1951–52; wrought-iron railings enclose the site.

Scotland’s Churches Trust records High Carntyne as the first Church of Scotland church-extension charge, the congregation meeting in a hut until Thomson’s church was completed in 1932. In January 2016 High Carntyne united with South Carntyne to form Carntyne Parish Church. The listing reference is LB33865; Scottish designations are noted here only, not as an English list entry.
