# All Saints, Gazeley

All Saints is the Grade I parish church of Gazeley, Suffolk, a substantial early fourteenth-century flint church with late fifteenth-century aisles and clerestory, in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

## Overview

Historic England describes a medieval church of nave, chancel, north and south aisles, south porch and west tower, of flint rubble with freestone dressings. The chancel and tower are early Decorated; the listing notes an unusual three-light east window under a cusped trefoil, a piscina integral with a double window-seat sedilia, and a projecting aumbry with crocketed canopy. Four-bay nave arcades have quatrefoil piers. Late fifteenth-century work raised the aisle and nave walls for large windows and a new clerestory, and the church was re-roofed; the porch is fifteenth-century. The tower’s upper stage was partly rebuilt in 1884.

Fittings include a fourteenth-century octagonal limestone font, a late sixteenth-century screen complete to the rood beam, and an octagonal pulpit of about 1500. Suffolk Heritage Explorer records dendrochronology on south-aisle timbers giving a likely felling date of 1371–1403. The church was listed Grade I on 7 May 1954 (NHLE 1037675).
