# Friends Meeting House, Come-to-Good

The Friends Meeting House at Come-to-Good, in the parish of Kea near Truro, Cornwall, is a Grade I thatched Quaker meeting house of 1710, still in use for worship.

## Overview

Historic England lists The Friends Meeting House (NHLE 1140860, listed 30 May 1967, amended 12 March 1986). The list records a meeting house of about 1710 in painted cob on stone-rubble footings under a steep wheat-reed thatch, originally a single room open to the roof, with a galleried loft of 1717. A linhay was added in the mid nineteenth century; a thatch-roofed concrete west porch of 1967 replaced an earlier lean-to. Original leaded lattice windows survive in oak frames, with crown glass and pin-tail hinges. The interior keeps unpainted pine roof, gallery, ministers’ stand and wall settles. Funds were raised from Quaker subscribers in 1707 and 1710; the land belonged to James Mayo, a Quaker, of Penelewey Barton. A mounting block survives to the south-east. The listing stresses how little the building has changed since the nineteenth century.
