# Fortingall Parish Church

Fortingall Parish Church is a Category B Church of Scotland church in Glen Lyon, Perth and Kinross, rebuilt in 1901–02 by Dunn & Watson on a medieval site beside the Fortingall Yew.

## Overview

Historic Environment Scotland lists the church (LB12288, Category B, 5 October 1971) as Scots Gothic, harled, with crowstepped end gables: a chancel, nave with porch, and a late-eighteenth-century-type bellcote at the nave–chancel junction reproducing that of the previous church. The interior is Arts and Crafts, with original fittings and an open barrel-vaulted timber roof. Fragments of a cross-slab, a Celtic handbell, and a 1765 bell by Johannes Specht of Rotterdam are kept in the church. The listing notes that some Fortingall work ascribed to Dunn & Watson may relate to James M. MacLaren, whose practice they continued.

Scotland’s Churches Trust records the church on an ancient Christian site, with an oak-panelled interior, a chancel screen designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, and the belfry of the old eighteenth-century church standing in the churchyard. The congregation’s website is taylyonchurches.org.uk.
