Overview
The Incorporated Society for the Building of Churches granted £250 towards construction in 1839. John Lloyd designed the aisleless Gothic Revival church, opened in 1842, in an Early English manner with coursed dressed stone and a slate roof. It is one of the Commissioners’ churches in Wales.
W. H. Spaull remodelled the interior in 1881, removing the west gallery and adding a chancel. A vestry was built at the south-east in 1935. Cadw lists the church (reference 18754) as a good example of an early Victorian church retaining interior fittings of quality, including a pitch-pine screen, stone pulpit and stained glass by Ballantine and others.
