# All Saints, East Dean

The Parish Church of All Saints at East Dean, near Chichester, is a Grade I cruciform Downland church of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, in the Diocese of Chichester.

## Overview

Historic England records a church of flint with stone dressings: a central tower, transepts and chancel of about 1150, and a thirteenth-century five-bay nave, restored in 1870. Blocked north-arcade arches show a lost north aisle. The listing notes a former dedication as St Simon and St Jude. Sussex Parish Churches attributes the 1870–71 restoration to Ewan Christian (chancel) and J. Marshall (nave, transepts and south porch). Listed Grade I on 5 June 1958, amended 30 January 2006 (NHLE 1026377). Since 1998 the church has belonged to the Valley Parish with Singleton and West Dean, in the South Downs National Park. Postcode PO18 0JG distinguishes it from East Dean in East Sussex.
