# Devoran Methodist Chapel, Truro

The former Devoran Wesleyan Methodist Chapel stands on Chapel Terrace (Chapel Hill), Devoran, near Truro: a stone chapel of 1861 that closed for worship in 2023.

## Overview

Cornwall Council’s Heritage Gateway and Mapping Methodism record a Wesleyan chapel built in 1825 and rebuilt on a larger scale about 1861; an earlier rear schoolroom survives and is thought to belong to the first chapel. A date plaque of 1861 is on the front. Sale particulars describe stone elevations with granite quoins and a building of over 4,000 square feet, comprising the main chapel with gallery, Sunday school room and meeting room. George Hele’s first organ, begun in Truro in 1865, was built for this chapel.

The last services were held in 2023 before the building was offered for sale. Cornwall Council approved a change of use in 2025 from place of worship to a mixed community and commercial use. No statutory listing for the chapel has been confirmed. There are no regular opening times for worship.
