Overview
Founded in 1864, Christ Church Moreton served the townships of Moreton and Saughall Massie, previously part of Bidston: St. Oswald. The church was built in the Early English style with a chancel, nave, aisles, and a tower with a spire. The churchyard contains a war memorial and a lychgate. The church hall was built in 1964.
The church was consecrated on 29 September 1864 by the Bishop of Chester, Rt. Rev. John Graham. The church was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, a prominent architect of the Gothic Revival style. The church was built using local sandstone and has lancet windows, a steeply pitched roof, and a bellcote.
