Overview
The parish history records that the district chapelry of All Saints, Child’s Hill, was formed in 1857 from the southern part of St Mary’s, Hendon, after services in a laundry belonging to Mrs Hipwell. The church, designed like the adjacent red-brick vicarage by Thomas Talbot Bury, was consecrated in 1856. It is built of ragstone in the ‘middle pointed’ style and originally had only a short aisled chancel and a nave. The north aisle and transept were added in 1878 (London Churches in Photographs attributes this to John Young) and the south aisle and transept in 1884. Patronage passed in 1908 to the Bishop of London.
The church was badly damaged by fire in 1940 and restored in 1952 by S. C. Ramsey. Sophie Hacker assembled two east windows from glass fragments in 2022 to commemorate Covid. No Historic England listing for this church was found; other All Saints list entries nearby refer to different buildings. The church stands behind the church school on Cricklewood Lane (NW2 2TJ) and is open Sunday to Thursday 9am to 6pm.
