# All Saints, Challoch

All Saints is a Category A listed Scottish Episcopal church at Challoch, near Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, in the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway.

## Overview

Historic Environment Scotland records an Early English aisleless church of 1871–72 by W. G. Habershon and A. R. Pite of London, Newport and Monmouth, with chancel, vestry and two porches. The fabric is squared whinstone with red sandstone ashlar dressings, set-off buttresses, lancets and decorative stone cross finials. It was commissioned as a private chapel by Edward J. Stopford Blair of Penninghame House; the foundation stone was laid in 1871, it was consecrated in 1872, and it was bequeathed to the diocese in 1885.

The listing is at Category A for the complete survival of furnishings, including stencil decoration in the chancel, a wrought-iron and brass rood screen, and an organ by Harston and Son of Newark. Scotland's Churches Trust notes ten stained-glass windows, a pine altar and the organ of 1881, restored in 1993. Altar ornaments were bequeathed by Sir Thomas Dick Lauder; the lectern and font by the Earl of Galloway.
