# All Saints, Bolton Percy

All Saints is a Grade I parish church on Main Street, Bolton Percy, North Yorkshire, in the Diocese of York. A church stood here at Domesday; the present building is locally nicknamed the Cathedral of the Ainsty.

## Overview

Historic England lists an early-fourteenth-century church consecrated in 1424, with the east window restored in 1866 by William Warrington and a 1905 restoration by John Bilson that probably added the south porch. Parish accounts also record a restoration of 1890 by James Demaine and Walter Brierley. The fabric is magnesian limestone ashlar under a stone slate roof: a three-stage west tower, four-bay aisled nave with south porch, and three-bay chancel with north vestry. Perpendicular three-light windows run under four-centred arches; the east window is of five lights. The tower has angle buttresses, battlements and pinnacles.

Inside are a Norman tub font with a Jacobean cover, a complete set of Jacobean box pews, a Caroline pulpit with tester, medieval stalls, and monuments including a Baroque wall monument to Ferdinando, 2nd Lord Fairfax (d.1648). Wikipedia, citing the parish, states that Bishop Nicholas Warte of Dromore consecrated the church on 8 July 1424 while Thomas Percy was rector. The church was re-roofed in 2016.
