# St James the Great, Aslackby

St James’s is a Grade I parish church on Temple Road, Aslackby, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

## Overview

Historic England dates the parish church to about 1300 and 1320, with mid-fifteenth-century work, restoration, and a chancel rebuilt in 1856. The fabric is limestone ashlar and coursed ironstone rubble, with slate roofs of stone-coped gables and some lead. The plan is a west tower, nave with north and south aisles, south porch, and chancel. The early fourteenth-century west tower is partly clasped by the aisles and has three-stage angle buttresses, a fourteenth-century west doorway, late fifteenth-century traceried west window, battlements, and corner pinnacles.

The listing describes a tall c.1300 tower arch, three-bay aisle arcades of the same date, a fifteenth-century tie-beam nave roof restored in the nineteenth century, and a fourteenth-century octagonal font.
