Overview
Historic England lists the meeting house as of 1868: rubble with rusticated ashlar quoins and tooled ashlar dressings, a slate roof with small gable stacks, and a single tall storey. The north front has a boarded door with a panel inscribed “1735 REBUILT 1868”, a 12-pane sash to the left and two to the right; all openings have raised stone surrounds. Local accounts record a meeting house first built here in 1688, replaced in 1735 and rebuilt again in 1868, with a small burial ground beside the building. The adjoining Meeting House Cottage is separately listed Grade II. The meeting house is among the oldest Quaker meeting houses in Northumberland still in regular use.
