# All Saints, Wold Newton

All Saints, also listed as the Church of All Hallows, is a Grade II parish church off Main Street, Wold Newton, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of 1862 by James Fowler of Louth, incorporating reused medieval masonry, of squared ironstone with limestone ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The plan is a three-bay nave with a west bellcote, south porch and a single-bay apsidal chancel with a north vestry. Nave windows are two-light plate-traceried, with trefoils above lancets; stepped lancets fill the west end. An octagonal ashlar bellcote is corbelled from the west gable, with shafted belfry openings and an octagonal spirelet with miniature lucarnes and a wrought-iron cross. The porch has a moulded pointed door with a small medieval carved figure reset above.

Inside, painted shafts support a double-chamfered chancel arch with a painted rood screen. Floor slabs at the west end commemorate Richard William Welfitt (1716) and Maria Welfitt (1717). A mid-fourteenth-century octagonal font is carved with quatrefoils and inscribed for John and Johanna Curteys. Eight eleventh- to fifteenth-century capitals and corbels are reset in the walls. Fourteenth-century glass fragments survive in a south-window trefoil. A painting dated 1861 shows the former church with a blocked south arcade. GENUKI and Wikipedia record reconsecration on All Saints Day 1862 by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
