# All Saints, Ulcombe

All Saints on Ulcombe Hill is a Grade I parish church begun in the twelfth century, in the Diocese of Canterbury.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church of the twelfth to fifteenth centuries, altered internally in 1956–63 and restored in the 1980s: stone with plain tile roofs; west tower with south vestry, nave, south aisle, south porch, chancel, north and south chancel chapels, and a north-east nave chapel. The fifteenth-century three-stage west tower has battlements, gargoyles and a taller polygonal south-east stair turret. Kent’s HER notes Norman work in the south chapel arcade and a window; the chancel and nave are Early English; the south chapel and aisle Decorated; the south porch and tower Perpendicular. Archbishop Stephen Langton made the church collegiate about 1220; the college lapsed soon after 1293. Listed Grade I on 26 April 1968 (NHLE 1060850).
