# All Saints, St Ewe

All Saints is a Grade I parish church in the village of St Ewe, mid-Cornwall, in the Diocese of Truro, open in daylight hours and set on a sloping site beside a large fifteenth-century cross base.

## Overview

Historic England lists the church (1137082, Grade I, 10 February 1967, amended 15 November 1988). The listing describes a thirteenth-century parish church enlarged in the fourteenth century, with a later fourteenth-century west tower, fifteenth-century alterations, and a late nineteenth-century restoration. Fabric is slatestone rubble with granite dressings and slate roofs. The plan is nave and chancel in one, originally cruciform, retaining the north transept; a west tower of the fourteenth century; south aisle and south porch of about the early fifteenth century; a north porch of about the late fourteenth century; and a nineteenth-century remodelling of the chancel with a north organ chamber.

Cornwall Historic Churches Trust and local accounts record Norman work in the lower north wall and a Norman font on a substantial central column with defaced carved heads. The two-stage tower carries a broached octagonal stone spire with a quatrefoil string course. The south aisle has a fine wagon roof with bosses and floral decoration over the Lady Chapel. J. P. St Aubyn restored the church in 1881. The dedication shifted from St Ewe to All Saints in later use.
