# All Saints, Pocklington

All Saints at Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire — known locally as the Cathedral of the Wolds — is a Grade I medieval parish church in the Diocese of York.

## Overview

Historic England records a church with a twelfth-century or earlier nave, thirteenth-century transepts, and a fifteenth-century west tower and chancel: an aisled nave of six bays with clerestory and a four-bay chancel. The late twelfth-century north arcade has cylindrical piers with capitals carved with figure, animal and foliage subjects. The lofty pointed tower arch has a capital-band of grotesque heads and foliage. Listed Grade I on 26 January 1967 (NHLE 1162006). The parish website states that the present church was built between 1190 and 1460 and that Christian worship on the site is associated with St Paulinus in the seventh century. The legal parish is Pocklington and Owsthorpe and Kilnwick Percy in the Diocese of York.
