# All Saints, North Cerney

All Saints is a Grade I parish church at North Cerney, Gloucestershire, in the Diocese of Gloucester, with an early twelfth-century core and a richly fitted late medieval and early twentieth-century interior.

## Overview

Historic England records an Anglican parish church of the early twelfth century, enlarged around 1200, with mid-fourteenth, late-fifteenth and early-to-mid-eighteenth-century work, and a late nineteenth-century restoration by Waller. The plan is a nave with north and south chapels, a vestry west of the north chapel, chancel and west tower. The twelfth-century nave was largely rebuilt after a fire of 1465–70. Materials include limestone ashlar and rubble, a shallow-pitched leaded nave roof and stone slate elsewhere. Listing NGR is SP 01853 07789.

The listing highlights a Norman south doorway with scalloped capitals and a diapered tympanum, a late fifteenth-century Lady Chapel, a three-stage tower with twelfth-century lower stages, and incised outlines of a manticore and a leopard on the fabric. Inside are a fifteenth-century coffered oak nave ceiling, a late fifteenth-century octagonal font, a stone pulpit of about 1480, a Flemish brass eagle lectern of about 1450, and fifteenth-century glass including a memorial to Rector William Whitchurch. Early twentieth-century work by F. C. Eden includes the 1914 south-chapel screen, 1925 rood loft and 1924 painted reredos. A west gallery was built in 1754.
