# All Saints, Llanfrechfa

All Saints is a Grade II* Church in Wales parish church on Church Road, Llanfrechfa, Torfaen, in the Diocese of Monmouth and the Cwmbran Ministry Area. Cadw lists a late medieval west tower with part of the nave west end and south porch; the rest was rebuilt to a larger scale in 1873–74.

## Overview

Cadw records the rebuild for the Mitchell family of Llanfrechfa Grange by Charles Buckeridge. Buckeridge died in 1873 and the work was completed under John L. Pearson. The nineteenth-century parts are coursed squared purple rubble with Bath stone dressings and plain tile roofs; the tower is of large squared pale purple sandstone blocks. The style is late Decorated to early Perpendicular Gothic. The three-stage tower has a battered base, crenellated parapet and a square north-east stair turret.

The interior has unpainted rendered walls, a four-bay north arcade and a high chancel arch. Fittings of 1874 include a large openwork screen, a carved stone reredos of the Last Supper by James Redfern, an octagonal font, a total-immersion font in the north-west corner, and Godwin of Lugwardine floor tiles. Stained glass includes the 1874 east window and chancel south windows by Clayton and Bell, and later work by Lavers and Westlake and Kempe and Co. Cadw grades the church II* for the fine late medieval tower and the unusually stately later nineteenth-century body with contemporary fittings.
