# All Saints, Hove

All Saints is a Grade I late-Victorian parish church on The Drive and Wilbury Road, Hove, designed by John Loughborough Pearson in the Diocese of Chichester.

## Overview

Historic England records the nave and aisles of 1889–91, the east end completed in 1901, and the base of the south-west tower and narthex completed in 1924. After Pearson’s death in 1897 the work was continued by his son Frank Pearson. The style is thirteenth-century French Gothic, in Sussex sandstone with slate roofs. The plan is a chancel with north-east and south-east chapels, north vestry, north and south transepts continuing the aisles, a five-bay aisled nave, narthex and unfinished tower. All Saints became the parish church of Hove in 1892.

The interior is ashlar, with clustered columns, stone ribs, an open rafter nave roof and a stone-vaulted west end. Nathaniel Hitch carved the reredos, sedilia and north-wall seats. Clayton and Bell glass, designed by Clement Bell, fills the east windows, the great west window and the north transept rose. The organ is by William Hill and Son, with a case designed by Frank Pearson (1915). The church is on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register because of decaying sandstone.
