Overview

The church was built in 1867-68 and designed by architects John Kirk and Sons. It is a designated Grade II listed building and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England. The church has a cruciform plan and is constructed in rock-faced red sandstone with dressings in lighter stone. The tower has a broach spire that rises to a height of 120 feet, and there are five clock faces. The interior of the church features a font and reredos in Caen stone, stained glass windows, and a Gothic monument to Joseph Hirst. The church has undergone various renovations and additions over the years, including the addition of a vestry and the replacement of the original pipe organ.
