All Saints, Bigby

All Saints is a Grade I parish church on Main Street, Bigby, Lincolnshire, in the Diocese of Lincoln.

Overview

Historic England dates the parish church to the twelfth, thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, with work of 1779 and a restoration of 1878. The listing describes coursed chalk and limestone rubble with limestone ashlar dressings and slate roofs: west tower, north and south aisles, chancel and south porch. The late thirteenth-century west tower is of two stages with a chamfered string, ironstone set-back buttresses and a fifteenth-century embattled limestone parapet on crude late thirteenth-century corbels.

The north aisle north wall is of brick, a restoration of 1779, with three contemporary lancets and repositioned ironstone buttresses. The south aisle has two sixteenth-century flat-headed windows with ogee-headed lights. The listing notes an important series of monuments, including those of the Tyrwhitt family. The font was apparently returned to the church in 1876.
