Overview

Historic England lists a west tower, nave, chancel, north and south aisles, south porch and north vestry. A. S. Hewitt rebuilt the north aisle in 1854 and the upper stage of the west tower in 1882. Walls are flint with limestone dressings; the east wall of the nave is red brick. The nave roof is thatched, the other roofs slated. The square west tower has staged buttresses, partly rebuilt in brick, nineteenth-century Decorated bell openings, and a stepped flushwork parapet dated 1890. The south nave and aisle walls use flushwork. Interior features include four-bay arcades with octagonal piers, some fifteenth-century poppyhead benches with animal carvings, and a thirteenth-century octagonal font with two shallow pointed arches on each face.

The church is in the Acle and Bure to Yare benefice. It has appeared on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk register; a major restoration was reported around 2019–20.
