# All Saints, Annesley

All Saints is a Grade II* parish church on Annesley Cutting, Annesley, Nottinghamshire, in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. It replaced the isolated medieval church beside Annesley Hall.

## Overview

Historic England records a parish church designed in 1874 by T. G. Jackson and rebuilt in 1907 after a fire, in thirteenth- and fourteenth-century styles. Fabric is coursed and squared rubble with steep Westmorland slate roofs and a timber-framed porch. The plan has a north-east tower with a squat octagonal broach spire, nave and chancel under a continuous roof, aisles, vestries and south porch. The listing notes an eleventh-century drum font with criss-cross patterns brought from the old church, and monuments removed from Annesley Old Church and from Colwick, including work signed by R. Westmacott.

Southwell Churches records that Jackson, a friend of the vicar, designed the church on land given by the Chaworth-Musters family at a cost of £8,350, to serve the new colliery village. A fire on 17 January 1907 destroyed the roof, bells, fittings and organ. Evans and Son of Nottingham restored the church, overwhelmingly to the original design, and it reopened on 20 February 1909. Tubular bells replaced ringing bells because the tower could no longer carry them. Services continued at both old and new churches until 1942.
